Dependable equipment was a necessity while trekking through the unknown - a solid hatchet, a sharp machete and a tough-as-nails belt loop to hang them from. She stuck her kerchief into her back pocket, a well-stitched vault that would secure her hanky's safe passage through the leafy canopy.
The sudden sound of a snap over the simmering jungle drew her attention to her left. She crouched down in some large foliage, not feeling the least bit restricted by her wise choice of legwear. Their subtle (yet stylish) color helped to camouflage her among shadows in the dusky hours of the dusk as a muscled, stripey leg cautiously peeked out of the darkness.
A full-grown tiger's gentle, deadly eyes met her own through the brush. She nearly ran but decided instead to stay as still as the ruined stone idols around her, taking comfort in the safety and security of her trusty, ever-reliable pants. The pair sat silently watching each other as the infinite voices of Mother Nature whispered around them. After a time -- it may have been moments, it may have been days -- the tiger slunk back into the trees to point his curiosity elsewhere. She might have been mistaken, but as he took his first cautious steps backward she could swear he gave a slight, approving nod toward the intrepid explorer's perfectly-fitting denim trousers.
